A letter to parents this September
Picture
I wasn’t sure what to write this year, the first day of September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. So here I am, with the day almost over-ready to share my thoughts.

I am hoping that this post will give you a little insight into this battle.

I also hope that it resonates with just one parent, a parent who has fought the ultimate fight with their child, side by side until the end.

I know that some people do not want to call it the “fight against childhood cancer”, but let’s be realistic, our children are fighting for their life-you are fighting for their life.

As parents we take this fight very seriously. We tell ourselves that we are going to win this fight and that we are going to keep fighting until our last breath. We battle daily with our heads down, pushing forward, fighting even after they tell us that “there are no more options” for our child.

To my fellow Angel Parents, I understand the struggle, the daily fight to “keep going”.

I can’t tell you that it gets easier, but I can tell you the good days start to outnumber the bad. When you don’t think that you can take another step, dig down even deeper. I truly believe that Our Angels want us to live, enjoy life, and continue to share their story with the world….you have to keep going to do just that.

Stay Positive, Be Happy and Continue to Smile

SEPTEMBER

Our big month is here!
September is where we put our energy into raising Childhood Cancer Awareness.
Yes, this does include our young adults through age 24.
We are currently promoting the “CJ’s Journey Gold Ribbon Campaign” in
several area restaurants which runs the entire month of September.
All the money raised with our “Golf Ribbon Campaign” goes directly into
the recently creating “CJ’s Journey Fund for Sarcoma Research at Washington
University in Memory of CJ Aubuchon”.  We have decided that it would be best to
place our research dollars closer to home for desperately needed sarcoma
research.

September is our time, in the Childhood Cancer
Community, where we can spread the word that “Yes” cancer is still taking our
children!  Please remember that
unlike most adult cancers, the majority of childhood cancers are not preventable
and do not have early warning signs, making it so important to raise awareness,
which in turn provides funding, for desperately needed research.
The epidemic continues to grow…unfortunately every family will be
effected, whether it is your neighbors, friends, nieces, nephews, grandchildren
or the unspeakable…..your own child.
So please help us so we can prevent childhood cancer from being "part of
your world"!

You can help raise awareness by simply wearing a gold ribbon and
help raise funding by purchasing a gold ribbon at either the St. Charles Texas
Roadhouse, St. Charles Applebee’s, and the O’Charley’s
St. Charles and O’Fallon locations during the month of
September.

I would like to personally welcome everyone to the new CJ's Journey website.
As CJ’s mother and president of CJ’s Journey I am so excited about the new direction in which we are heading.  We are starting the next chapter of CJ’s Journey-since becoming a 501 (c)(3).

We were successful prior to receiving our Non-Profit status, but now we have the potential to increase our ability to assist more children and their families fighting this unthinkable disease.  With our new status we will be able to approach businesses and organizations for assistance.  Please remember that we are an “all volunteer” organization-so your money goes directly into our programs!

I look forward to keeping you up to date on the childhood cancer front as we raise awareness which in turn raises funds needed for research and eventually finding a cure for the cancer that took our son, CJ.

Stay Positive, Be Happy and Continue to Smile!

In CJ’s Memory,
Jeanine
