PIzza parties and parents kitchen
at st. louis children's hospital
Over the past year, our programs, at St. Louis Children's Hospital, have provided over 800 pizzas, feeding over 3,000 patients and their families, over 5,700 healthy snack items for the families of patients and laundry supplies to complete over 3,000 loads of laundry.
It is an honor for CJ's Journey to give back to the same hospital and support system that cared for CJ during his cancer treatment. PIZZA PARTIES Every Friday the children at St. Louis Children's Hospital Hematology/Oncology unites are greeted with a Pizza Party provided by CJ's Journey. Families comment to the staff on how "thankful" they are for the "free" delicious meal and the chance to "be present" with other families on the unit. This program has been provided for three years thanks to the generous donations and support from the CJ's Journey community. PARENT'S KITCHEN With all of the costs associated with the care of their child fighting cancer, it is hard to believe that a parent must pay for a plate, in the cafeteria, to heat their food up in. We experienced this first hand through CJ's Treatment and have made it our mission to make being away from home a little "easier" on the family. CJ's Journey provides paper plates, plastic wrap and healthy snacks in the Parent's Kitchen on 9W, as well as laundry packets so parents have the ability to wash their child's clothing. |
