During CJ's fight against cancer in 2008 we developed CJ's Journey. At that time in our lives CJ's Journey helped pay for the expensive treatments, medicines and transportation not covered by insurance. After CJ was denied insurance for an "experimental" radiation treatment, CJ's Journey reached out to the Saint Louis community for help and support. The out pour of support and love made us realize CJ's Journey could be much more. After CJ's peaceful passing, CJ's Journey changed into a nonprofit organization that provides hope and assistance to those affected by Childhood Cancer.
Throughout his personal journey with cancer we discovered numerous supporters, some startling facts, and that something was missing - the awareness of childhood cancer. After CJ’s passing in May, 2009 we created CJ’s Journey Foundation, with the help of our wonderful supporters and volunteers. We believe our mission, to provide hope to and assist children, young adults and their families with childhood cancer; to raise funding for childhood cancer research; to assist other organizations that provide funding and support to patients and families effected by childhood cancer; and to raise awareness and educate the public about childhood cancer, fills the voids we found in the beginning of our journey. Each year we hold at least three events to raise money, as well as awareness of childhood cancer. We have hundreds of supporters in the Saint Louis area and are working diligently to make our organization known. We are small, but mighty! In March 2012, we celebrated becoming a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. |
