Amber's dream journey - august 2012
A special thank you to everyone that made Amber's Dream Journey possible. Amber and her family had a fantastic week in Florida, visiting both Orlando and St. Pete Beach. Amber began her trip with a visit to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando, FL. The following days the family experienced Discovery Cove, allowing them to swim with dolphins, visit with stingrays and swim with sharks. The family visited Sea World and Busch Gardens before heading to St. Pete Beach. In St. Pete the family enjoyed a relaxing two days on the sandy beaches enjoying the beautiful ocean. Below is a slideshow of some of Amber's photos.
We understand these types of trips would not be possible without our many supporters and corporate sponsors. Thank you Great Strides Behavioral Consulting for supplying the airfare for Amber and her family and Bommarito Automotive Group for sponsoring accommodations. amber's StoryMy story began on August 23, 1989. Now at the age of 22, I must say I have an amazing life. I have lived in the same house, in the same small town of St.Clair my whole life. Growing up both my parents worked. My dad (Gary) works at the Franklin County Highway Dept. and my mom (Karen) has the best job ever. She has been a babysitter since before my brother was born so I grew up playing with my best friends (more like brothers and sisters) every day. Many of these kids are still close today. I wouldn't change my life for anything.
I have a brother (but I call him brudder), named Nathan, who is two years older than me. He's one of my best friends. I always joke around that we are twins but two years apart because we look exactly a like, esp. when I'm bald. We have always gotten along awesomely and love hanging out. I wouldn't trade him for anything. I went to high school at St. Clair High School. I graduated in 2008. I didn't really participate in much because I'm not coordinated enough for sports. I was in a club called Renaissance that I really enjoyed. One of my favorite events in high school had to be senior trip to New York City. I went to a community college called East Central College (ECC) in Union, MO. I started out with an education degree but after a little while realized it wasn't for me and switched to medical secretary. Actually, I just graduated this past semester at ECC with my medical secretary associates degree. Anxiously waiting for my diploma to arrive in the mail. I haven't even started career searching yet because I want to kick this cancer first. |
